Northwestern University Builds Gaza Solidarity Encampment

Students at Northwestern University set up their encampment on campus to demand the institution disclose and divests from companies that are complicit in Israel’s occupation and on-going genocide.

It began with a. few dozen student activists but by nightfall the Deerfield Meadow lawn was filled with 1,000 students, faculty and their supporters. The numbers dwindled by midnight however, there are still hundreds holding their ground.

10:30 am: Northwestern University “Liberation Zone” in solidarity with Gaza, Palestine. Approximately 200-300 students,faculty and alumni have gathered at Deering Meadow. Organizers are demanding disclosure of school finances and divestment from Israel.Police still on the scene observing the action

2:00 : Police leave the encampment

7:00 PM: Northwestern Muslim Student Association brings their scheduled event to the encampment. At least 500 hundred protesters are gathered on the lawn.

8:00pm : Protest organizers host seder in commemoration of Passover. More than 1,000 students, faculty and their supporters are gathered on the lawn.
