American Airlines to discontinue direct flights to Tel Aviv

American Airlines’ Philadelphia-Tel Aviv route will see its final flight on January 5, 2016, following the private airline’s announcement to bring the route’s six years of operation to an end. According to the Israeli Airport Authority, American’s  Philadelphia-Tel Aviv route has seen 95,000 passengers this year , a 2.7 percent increase from the same time last year.

U.S. opposes destruction of Palestinian village

U.S. activists and government officials are on high alert as the threat of demolition looms over Susiya, a Palestinian village located in the south Hebron hills. In May, the Israeli High Court denied a Palestinian request for an injunction to stop Israel’s plans to destroy their homes, even though a legal appeal is due to be heard on Aug. 3.

Federal Judge to UIUC: Salaita Has Grounds for Lawsuit

On Thursday, August 6, a federal judge dismissed Univeristy of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s (UIUC) efforts to strike down Professor Steven Salaita’s lawsuit regarding his firing from a tenured position over statements he made on Twitter during Israel’s military campaign in Gaza last summer. The University maintains the decision over Salaita’s position is due to his comments “uncivil” nature and further argue there was no official contract between the professor and UIUC.
