The Palestinian Youth Movment was dismayed to receive word that Trinity St.-Paul’s United Church in Toronto caved to a smear and harassment campaign initiated by a Zionist organization and opted to cancel the upcoming celebration of the PYM’s annual Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Scholarship on July 13th, 2019.
We are inspired by the resilience and steadfastness of students and community members taking part in this initiative, as their example is a powerful testament to how it is our duty to push back against the university’s penchant for profiting off of the harm and exploitation of our communities.
Open Letter From Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP West) and the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) to the UC Presidential Task Force for University-Wide Policing
On November 16th-18th, National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP) hosted its annual conference at UCLA.
Bashi is a part-time professor of Middle Eastern History at Pace University. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic literature and a PhD in Middle Eastern Studies. Bashi decided that her “contribution as a feminist, anti-racist scholar of the Middle East” would be to use her expertise of the region in the service of Palestinian children.
The exhibition contains about 100 photographs, along with several paintings, video interviews, and maps. This exhibit focuses on everyday life in Bethlehem, from 1880 to present day.

Tufts University joined the growing list of universities that have passed divestment resolutions targeting organizations with ties to human rights violations, particularly in Palestine. Students in colleges around the country are increasing their divestment efforts, by pushing for student resolutions and beyond.
Two teachers were suspended indefinitely from Friends’ Central School in Philadelphia for supervising a club that invited a Palestinian speaker to campus.
The University of Michigan’s Central Student Government (CSG) voted down a divestment resolution that was forwarded by the Palestinian advocacy group, Students Allied for Freedom and Equality (SAFE). The resolution received 34 votesagainst, 13 in favor, and 3 abstentions at an assembly on Nov. 15.
Students United for Palestinian Equal Rights (SUPER) helped pass a resolution at Portland State University, which called for divestment from several companies complicit in Israeli apartheid.
Columbia College Chicago (CCC) has reversed its decision to remove one of Professor Iymen Chehade’s sections of his “The Israeli/Palestinian Conflict” course.
