All in Palestine in America
Being at the convention gave me the opportunity to listen to a variety of speakers such as Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, Hoda Kotabi, and a keynote address from Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib. I learned and grew a deeper appreciation for the stories that they carry with them on their journey to freedom in Palestine.
We write as a coalition comprised of collectives of Indigenous communities from around the world and as communities of color residing in US-controlled territories, in fierce opposition to the US-backed coup in Bolivia.
Tune into Palestine in America’s podcast to hear how Askar plans on bringing awareness to the plight of the Palestinians, while he climbs the ranks of the mma world.

The Palestinian Youth Movement condemns in no uncertain terms the recent, shameful participation of several prominent Palestinian politicians, activists, and intellectuals in the recent J Street 2019 national conference.
The 32-year-old New York native was raised in Ohio and fumbled upon weight lifting four years ago when she took her son to a local gym for sports training. It was at the gym that she signed up for a weight lifting class and now says she is in the best shape of her life.
It was from his father that Tamer had first learned of Alex Odeh. Tamer’s father, Mourid, kept newspaper clippings about Odeh in his office at the autoshop. They were the only images Mourid had, aside from photographs of Leila, Tamer’s mother, who had died shortly after Tamer was born.
Jamil stared at the blinking cursor, the blank virtual page on the computer screen, and wondered if he really hadn’t lived enough for the words to start coming automatically. Had anyone ever lived enough? Maybe it was a pointless question to ask oneself at twenty-two.
The cold reality is that Israel controls every aspect of Palestinian life inside the Palestinian territories. I hold a Palestinian ID, or hawiya, and a Palestinian passport, so on this trip, I felt some of the restrictions and hassles Palestinians deal with 24/7.
Muhammad earned his call to UFC by dominating in the smaller fighting circuits. He was 9-0 before he was notified about his opportunity at a more professional level, but he was not surprised. He fought five fights at Hoosier Fight Club in Indiana, two for Bellator MMA — a California-based MMA promotion — and three for Titan FC, a Florida-based MMA promotion. The Palestinian fighter expected the call from the UFC after he defeated former UFC fighter Steven Carl by TKO to win the Titan FC welterweight championship in 2016.
Palestine in America (PiA) sold out Palipalooza for the first time in the history of its annual event.
The PiA team would like to thank Palipalooza 2019 attendees for filling Al Keif Hookah Lounge to capacity and supporting our artists and vendors on August 22.
Breakfast, then work and school. Back home, then dinner: cheeses, labne, cucumbers, shai maʿ naʿ naʿ (tea with mint). Four years inched by. No sound but the gentle smacking of lips, the mechanical sips of shai. Dina used to watch the steam from the shai, the fumes from the cigarettes her father smoked at the table (as everywhere else) and imagine it was Jibran’s ghost. Maybe Jibran would slip in to their noses, their mouths, and shoot to their ear canals, stopping their ears translucently. Then everything would seem still. Jibran could keep carving invisible words in the empty air.
Since his 2007 appearance on season four of “Project Runway”, a reality show for fashion designers, Rami Kashoú has styled Penelope Cruz, Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian and countless other women in evening wear with his signature elegant drapery. His Spring/Summer 2020 ready-to-wear designs are a change of pace from his custom red carpet looks but no less constructed, bold and expressive.
There are a few words that can be used to describe Najla Azar: petite, open, and inviting, just like her home in Beit Sahour, the largely Christian town outside of Bethlehem in the West Bank.
The US Palestinian Community network is bringing the world’s youngest officially registered journalist to the Chicagoland area and Palestine in America is proud to be a co-sponsor.
Rashida Tlaib is a Palestinian you should know. She made history when she was elected as the first Palestinian-American congresswoman in US history.
The author invites readers to bask in Steven Salaita’s innovative bridging of Palestinian and Indigenous/Native American Studies frameworks. When conducted ethically, and in a genuinely reciprocal fashion, Salaita shows us, comparison is not an empty intellectual exercise, but a veritable plotting of points towards comprehensive, collective liberation.
Next month at Palestine in America’s annual Palipalooza we will celebrate the relaunch of our website and print magazines with performances, art, and plenty of culture.
The Palestinian Youth Movment was dismayed to receive word that Trinity St.-Paul’s United Church in Toronto caved to a smear and harassment campaign initiated by a Zionist organization and opted to cancel the upcoming celebration of the PYM’s annual Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Scholarship on July 13th, 2019.
